There will be more on this in a bit, but for those of you who didn't understand the context, this week's blog title was one of the mantras used by Meb Keflezgihi to keep his focus and determination in this grueling event.
You can see from the 'This Week at FoF' page that this is going to be a busy week, and the start of the really busy part of the racing season. Locally there are the Denise Van Hooren races in which many are participating. For those who didn't know Denise, she was a well known local runner who passed away in 2009 at the age of 52. As well as being a talented and determined runner, Denise's warmth and kindness truly made her an inspiration to anyone who met her. FoF also has participants in the Le Chocolate HM in Windsor, as well as the Good Life HM and Mississauga half and full marathon. Good luck to all!
Congrats to the Bridge Run folks who made it to Arkona this past weekend....sans coach. The next Arkona date will be May 10th and yours truly will be there for sure.....not sure how much running I'll be doing but will be there for moral support....and maybe to take your breakfast orders early!
Now that nicer weather is finally here Dick (Spielberg) Felton is back in the videotaping business and those of you who would like to have a running form video / analysis done, should contact him.
One housekeeping item.....Rolf Hauckwitz reported that they've found a black running jacket (RBK BLACK?) that may have been left over from the February run. If this sounds like a jacket you've lost, please email us and we'll get it back to you.
This Wednesday, we'll have a clinic talk on mental toughness.....'You've trained your body, now train your brain'. This week's blog title is an example of the kind of mind games that we can play with ourselves to try and stay strong when the going gets tough. 'Boston strong' was the theme of this year's race and Meb used this to his advantage to come up with this great mantra, which he reportedly kept repeating to himself at the end of the race. For those of you who've been with us for a while, much of the material will be similar to previous talks we've had on this but we'll also include some newer concepts like the 'Central Governor Theory' by Dr. Tim Noakes.
That's all for now.....have a great week!
