Big month June is: Race month. All race distances are upon us and we are leading into taper time to make us fresh and rested. Listen to that strategy and your race will be done well. Niagara, Bridge Race, Boys Home, Rock the Road, Bluewater Half in Port Huron or elsewhere. Congrats to all who are approaching that start line. Hard training was done and now the time to enjoy.
38th YMCA CHOK "Under" the Bridge Race. The final week to sign up on raceroster.com. Package pickup is at the YMCA on FInch Drive on Friday 4-8 and Saturday 10-5. Bibs, shirts and last minute instructions will be on hand. 10k - Start/Finish on the Line on Terry's Loop in between the hut and canon. Time is 8am. Route is very different this year so pay attention to the cyclists and volunteers that are on the race route. If you are one to wear music: one earbud out so you can listen for call outs as well as pedestrians that we will be sharing the route with. This route is NOT closed to the public. 5k starts directly in front on the customer entrance at the Casino. All who are in this event please ask your driver to park in the overflow back parking lot as this route will be shut down to allow for you the 5k as well as the 10k to run thru. OPP and volunteers will be on site and will NOT allow your driver to leave until all have passed thru. Time is 8:20am. You will meet the 10k and end with them at the finish line. A word of CAUTION: the bridge is under construction as we all know which means the section where the kids "jump off" into the water is cornered off. PAY ATTENTION TO THE VOLUNTEERS as they will guide you in the right direction. Be courteous, patient and understanding throughout this race. If you are a volunteer, there will be if not already an email sent out to you to attend a volunteer meeting on Wednesday, June 3rd at 6pm at the LLC on Oakdale behind Colbourne Rd. Please attend as this is where you find out where you will be and your job description complete with photo so you are well prepared for Race Morning. We thank you for all your help and understanding to put this event in the standing it deserves.
Fall training will start immediately after for any distance. If you have not done so already, please sign up and let us know what event you will be doing so we can include it into the training schedule. firstname.lastname@example.org is where to connect with us.
Heads up/Mark on calendar: Wednesday, July 1st is Canada Day - FoF will run at 8am this morning . Also starting the 1st weekend in July we will commence our running for Saturday and Sunday at 7am to accommodate for the weather.
Thank you and enjoy the beginnings of June
