We have been focusing on our FORM and how we are using our core to keep our bodies engage while we run as well as arm swings, relaxing and foot strike. How is everyone doing with that? Are you still practicing these methods while running and you know that you could also bring this into your daily life. Yes, at home or work or shopping, etc. I have embarked on a yoga practice and have reconnected with my body in observing it on how far I can push my limits. With this journey, relearning how to use my breathing in every day life not just in my practice. So for this week while running and staying within our Focus and Intent pay attention to your breathing. IS it slow and steady, focus with each step you take. In thru your nose, out thru your mouth (very hard to do) especially if you are breathing to fast and hard which usually means you are going to fast unless you are doing hill work or speed. I know we get into our groups and start chattering, pace picks up (totally at fault on this one) and losing all aspects of form, intent and breathing but try and search out where you are in this and correct as you go. Getting to that start line fresh, loose, confident and ready to go within your body and mind makes for a fantastic race. Let's really concentrate on these things as we get deeper within our training.
Sooooo, speaking of training, couple weeks back Dick introduce via blog our newest member/coach to join in, Tim Westaway, an ultra marathoner / triathlete / Iron man / marathoner, who does not have one DNF (did not finish) to his name. Tim will be joining us on Wednesday, Jan 28th @ 5:30pm (DO NOT BE LATE-EVERYONE IS WELCOMED-BRING A FRIEND WHO MAY BE INTERESTED IN Ultras or just want to hear an inspiring story) that we can adapt to our lives whether we are Couch to 5k or thinking about our FIRST long distance race. He will break it down and give you the journey on the road that you may take.
