I have also run a bit on the beach - really a pleasure, however like everything else - gradual progress since my feet are not conditioned on the bottom or the top. I walked 5 hours on the Tuesday after my 1200 KM ride - in the water however never gave a thought to the sun on the tops of my feet - never ever get the tops of your feet burned - so sore - have never been in such pain!! OUCH - another lesson and here I thought at my age the lessons were far and few between - NOT!!
I hope everyone is doing well in Sarnia. C25K people should be running consistently now, since it will soon be time to test your training at the Bridge Race 5K. You guys will be ready to show your stuff, I am sure.
Others who maybe doing the River Run, Boys Home Run, Noelles Gift Run and the Under the Bridge 10K - please stay on course - you will be ready to race when the day comes. Tim's Ultra group will be running some pretty insane days since June 20th is not that far away. This will be a first attempt for all of us at an ULTRA distance - pretty exciting stuff. Keep up the good work.
Stef, Dennis and myself will be working on Half Marathon and Marathon plans for fall races, so please make sure we know which one you are doing, so that we can tailor the plan just for you.
One of the teachers at Cathcart Public School is having her students reseach and refurbish running shoes - here is a little write up:
My class is doing a project called the Lace 'Em Up Shoe Drive where we are collecting different sizes of children's, men's and women's gently used running shoes. We will be sorting and cleaning these shoes to send to needy schools in Lambton County so that children will have proper footwear for outside and for Physical Education class. If you are getting a new pair of shoes, and have some shoes that are still in reasonably good condition for a needy student, we would appreciate having them.
Greetings dear fellow marathon runners and/or walkers,
Here at Cathcart Public School, we are doing a Shoe Drive. We are collecting gently used shoes for the schools around Lambton County. These shoes will be provided to people who need them, and who can't afford them. We are looking for adult sized shoes.
Shoes for kids are really important. What footwear they wear now will affect them later on in life. For example, if the shoe is too tight on their feet at their toes they will get bunions and might have to get surgery for them. Growing feet are also really important to take care of as well. If the safety of the shoe is really poor, the chances of you rolling your ankle and getting objects injected into your foot if your sole is gone, can cause many different problems.
Ask your fellow walkers or runners who have gently used shoes. After your collection of shoes, please return the shoes to Rhonda Melanson. (email@example.com)
-Sincerely, the students of Grade 7FI Cathcart PS.
Please - let's see if we can help them out
