Welcome to the second week of January where everything is back to "normal". School's back in, Work is back, bills are calling your name and outside is chilly. Well I can say that I have welcomed 2017 with open arms. Spent three good weeks starting on the 23rd of December with my family. Went to my oldest sister's home for Christmas til the 27th. Shared tears and laughter to learn that life can and will take swings to try to keep you under and only yourself can stay the course. My youngest sister flew in from the West coast on that 27th day to London so spent time there. Then both my sister's made there way to Sarnia with my nephew and spent the week with my brother and family who live here. We had good laughs, shared time with my parents and made some lasting memories on how life is suppose to be. Not going to lie, It has been a very tough year for me however I knew that to come out on the other side I had to fill and surround myself with what I LOVE. Doesn't make me selfish, it makes me stronger, alive, happy and the courage to take the next steps and embrace 2017 with open arms and positivity.
So having said that, here is what I know. I will only be able to run 5k as this is what my body can handle with minimual reprecussion. I may push out a 7 but why? I don't have to prove a thing. I work out to give my core and back strength and overall stay healthy. I dislike the bitter cold, so I may have to start running on a treadmill (yes I did say that). My goals: run or race 5ks, on my own, teaching my group or with friends. I run for me, against me, to better me. I coach you to run better for yourself, within yourself to beat yourself. Never ever compare or try to compete with others. You are not them, you are you. You may be able to train with them, you may have a better day than them but know that your body will do what it wants so listen to it and don't let someone talk you into something you definitely know you shouldn't do.
