With fall approaching, the activity level is really starting to ramp up again. We'd like to wish good luck to those participating in next weekend's races, the Military Half Marathon, and the Run for Heroes Half Marathon and 10k. Meanwhile most of the others in the group are at the peak of their training efforts for those competing in the Scotia Waterfront Races and Niagara Falls races. Hang in there for another few weeks....that taper is just around the corner!!
This week congratulations go out to Juanita Lew and Frank Clement who have qualified for Boston and put their entries in this week. No one works harder than you both and we know you'll enjoy the experience. Pat Cranston, who'd run the race last year but was not allowed to finish, will also be returning.
On Saturday, September 21st, Dick will be headed to Arkona to run and anyone wishing to join him should let him know so they can organize things. Regular group runs will continue in Sarnia - you have the option to try something different. Dick will also be going to Arkona once or perhaps twice more in late September / October. Those dates will be published here.
Stefania will be organizing a dinner the evening before the Niagara Falls races again this year. It will be at the same restaurant last year and it was a great way to enjoy a pre-race meal with your friends in a very relaxing atmosphere. IF you are interested, please send FoF an email with the numbers in your group. It will be prepaid (cash only) again this year and Jeff Hodgson has agreed to collect the money.
One of the comments made about the password for the training pages is that it changes too often so starting now, the password will be valid for one month. We'll continue to remind you of it on a weekly basis and for this month the current password will continue.
Another suggestion that was made was to have a group warm up before our runs. Our new room will be ready soon and it could be used for this. WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK HERE. Would you like the warm up to start 15 minutes before the scheduled runs (e.g. at 5:45 on Monday / Wednesday) or would you like the warm ups to start at the current scheduled run times, and start the runs 15 minutes later? The warm up is OPTIONAL!. Please let us know your thoughts (thanks to John Harwood for this suggestion).
Planning for Mo' Run is ramping up. Right now, WE NEED SPONSORS!. If anyone has contacts who might be willing to donate any funds, please let us now. This year we will have CHIP TIMING and LONG SLEEVED TECHNICAL T-SHIRTS as well as prizes for the winners of each event.
And finally....we've added a Photos page to the website. Right now, we have a few photos from Crim (kindly sent in by Patricia Mombourquette) but we know you have lots of great shots of previous races. Please send then via email and we'll add them.
