The picture states exactly how it is.
So last Saturday, I got a taste of my own medicine. I forgot my flask, yes of water, and I knew at 2k I was in trouble. It was hot, humid and I needed fuel. I tried to distract myself but started to feel the shivers, the dizzy, stomach rebel, that I finally told the 3 other women I was running with that I had to tap out for a few to walk. Had about 2k and a bit to do. I walked a couple of minutes then started back up, caught up with them and finished. Stumbled to sit on the bench in the shade but just knew I needed to get home. Went to get up and found I had little strength as I walked towards my car. A few others showed up and were stretching and one went to my car where I had my water. I drank and started to feel better. It took until noon that day. I continued to drink water, made my smoothie and had a slice of banana bread. Message is: BRING WATER AND FOOD. You are starting your training and within your training you need to start learning what your body can handle and/or reject. Options: water/OJ/sea salt, coconut water(not concentrate)/salt, watered down G2/ultima/etc. Fuel: trail mix, banana bread(frozen), baby food, etc. Find something and carry with or know the route and pre drop so you know it is there when you get to that point. We will start dropping water at 2 different points and we will let you know where that will be. Don't let heat exhaustion enter into your training takes a long while to recover.
Injuries - how is everyone doing. Are you consistence with your stretches, booking your massages, checking in with your physio's , Epson salt baths even just feet soaks,. are you elevating your legs at night for at least 10 mins if not more. Little things go a long way.
