2:03:46 = new Chicago marathon record set today (men - Dennis Kimetto) and a 2:19:57 for the women (Rita Jeptoo) Fantastic day to run a marathon. Congratulations to Michelle Flynn and Elizabeth Campbell for being the first two of our members to finish a marathon this racing season - GREAT JOB LADIES - now rest and recover - lots of recovery walks shopping along the Miracle Mile!!!
Next weekend is Scotia Bank half and full marathon with the week following in Niagara. Taper folks - regenerate and take in some extra carbs during the week - do NOT wait until the night before your race to carbo load. Those aches and pains will subside and you will be ready to rock on your race day. Need a race plan - contact your coaches. PLEASE remember that in these last week(s) before your race you are not going to get any better by doing extra - so do NOT try to catch up on any missed runs - just follow the plan.
Mo' Run Sarnia 2013! - Please consider supporting this worthwhile project in support of men's health. As a runner $50 gets you a long sleeve technical running shirt, a medal, a great race (with goodies on race day AND a chance to win good prizes) PLUS a $30 tax receipt to offset your taxes - now how much better can it get. Registration for our race does not have any hidden costs either - just the $50. Please sign up early so that we can determine if we need extra shirts or medals AND just in case you do not feel like running PLEASE sign up to volunteer - it will be fun either way. A couple of on going reminders:
- On Mondays and Wednesdays, warm ups will begin at 5;45, with runs starting at 6:00
- We will now be gathering at the entrance below the Drawbridge on a regular basis. The below grade level door should be open 15 minutes ahead of schedule meeting times.
- We've reverted to the normal schedule on Friday (7:00) / Saturday (8:00) / Sunday (8:00)
