Hope you running fans watched the Olympic Marathon Trials on Saturday - quite exciting really. Galen Rupp looked like he was out for a training run and although it was his first ever marathon, he was fantastic and look good right to the finish grinning ear to ear about his performance. he thinks he will do the 10,000 and marathon in Rio. Meb also qualified at 40 years old = quite a feat as well. Women's race was exciting too with Amy Cragg looking as fresh as Rupp at the finish line after leading the race with Shalane Flanagan for most of the marathon. Desiree Linden actually beat out Flanagan for second place for the Ladies and Jared Ward was third for the men - only these 6 get to run the marathon at the Olympics for USA in 2017. There was prize money of $300,000 for each of the first 10 finishers = men / women for this race with first place getting $80,000.

Keep up with your training everyone since you will be surprised at how fast your goal races will approach. Be careful not to over-train - respect your days off and get lots of sleep AND "IF" you feel those aches and pains persisting, it does not hurt to take a day or two off before they develop into an on going chronic problem. You MUST make it to the start line before you have a chance at finishing, let alone meeting any goals you might have.
Do you need someone to run with - I am always available but remember if you run with me, I practice what I preach = slow and easy on LSD runs . I reserve faster for tempo and race pace runs on the specified days according to the training plans. Running fast all the time, might feel good on training runs, but it does not improve your running or your chances of meeting your marathon or ultra marathon goals
