Well - I have been away for a week and now even this week recovering I have sort of been out of it - however here I am writing this week’s summary. Lots going on this week AND it is finally feeling like summer - which is good however we also need to be careful since hydration and staying cool is a big part of surviving and thriving during summer training
New training plans are rolling out - they will begin this week for fall training so please pay close attention - more information will be forthcoming on where you can download your plans off of the FoF web site.
This week (tomorrow night) Monday we are trying something a little different. Share the Road is having a rally at City Hall at 6PM to show City Council that there are actually cyclists in Sarnia. We would like as many people as possible to ride their bike and after a couple of speeches by dignitaries and Eleanor McMahon from Share the Road we will ride to Canatara Park on our bicycles. Feet on Fire runners will then do our workout in the park and ride home afterwards. If you don’t want to ride with a group - we will meet you in Canatara Park - at the Cannon by Terry’s Loop after the rest of us ride there.
Tuesday night June 25th at 5:30 PM = 1 hour - at On edge Fitness.we are hosting a Functional Movement seminar featuring Jenny Lindsay, a physiotherapist from Dave Archer’s clinic. Some of you have met her when she gave a brief synopsis of what Functional Movement means. Please be on time and come to learn new ideas to use in your everyday life. It will be positive for your running success as well!
Commencing the week of July 1st, we will start our Saturday and Sunday morning runs at 7am (our Friday run will continue at 7AM as well. We will post all this on the calendar on the website.
July 1st is a Monday and Canada Day and a big family day at Canatara, A group run will leave OnEdge Fitness at 7am. before any the festivities get underway. (both Cal and Dick will be away - Stef will lead this group and may wish to change this to 8AM - she will discuss this week)
HAVE YOU RESPONDED for July 27th - we are going to run our Half Marathon Relay and follow it with a BBQ in Canatara Park You need to let us know “IF” you want to take part - “WHAT” your 5K time is (estimate if you don’t know it) - “DO” you want to run 1 or 2 x 2 ½ KM legs of the relay and “WILL” you be staying for the BBQ? Your coaches will make up the teams. Family and Friends welcome (and they are welcome to run if you tell us their 5K time) since you will bring what you want to eat and something to share. FoF will reserve a spot in the park and we should be there early enough to reserve the area we want - last time we started at 7:30 AM and should finish the running around 9:30 AM hence the BBQ will be a brunch and will not take up your whole day (unless you want it to!) Make the subject of your email response “RELAY BBQ”
Crim - Flint , MI - Aug 24th, Cal and I will be there - www.crim.org. Such a fun event. Some of us will be going down Friday (great expo) and coming back Saturday after the party, some are driving down and back same day (we will get your packages if this is what you will be doing) and some will be staying till Sunday. Roommates are a great way to cut cost if your spouse is not going so buddy up and sign in.
