Speaking of nutrition, (and cake is OK once and a while!) - I have just read a book about Bradley Wiggins, the Brit who won the 2012 Tour de France and in his story he related how his nutritional advice was given (remember that the lighter a rider can maintain, the easier it is to climb hills on a bike) He was told to eat for the workouts he was doing. "IF" he was doing a 3 hour training ride, then eat to fuel a 3 hour training ride. "IF" he was doing a 1 hour session, only eat for that one hour session however "IF" he had a big race , then fill up - to gain enough fuel to finish the job. It is best NOT to eat too much for lesser efforts because the food you do not need will get stored in your body - and - you will have to carry it around with you. Get yourself to the right weight for your body type and sport and keep it there by eating with your training in mind. My personal motto is train empty / race full - similar to My Wiggins advice (always pre use your race food during a training run)
The weather was certainly nice this past week and August looks like it will continue as perfect conditions for running - so enjoy because there will always be hot and cold days to deal with in the future!!
Next Saturday, a run will be planned for Arkona as well as Sarnia IF anyone is interested? We need to know hence PLEASE send us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) to tell us where you will be running on Saturday August 10th SARNIA or ARKON - we will send out notification to those going to Arkona with details once we have a list.
My open apology to Stef, Cal and all of our runners for the next 3 weeks as I will be indisposed most run sessions because I will be doing support and riding a 1200 KM Granite Anvil Randonneurs ride. I will make as many runs as possible between now and August 25th however for sure I will be absent August 7, 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 23, 24 & 25th. I know some would like to be tested and or video taped so either Monday or Tuesday this week or the week of August 26th please.
A final note to any of our former members and or new people who want to run with Feet on Fire - FoF runs are open and all runners are welcome. Our weekly schedule and training plans are now protected for the exclusive use of our members, (as is the ability to have personalized coaching input) however all runners are welcome to show up for our runs to join in the fun!
